SPerishables was founded in response to a significant challenge encountered by the hospitality, supermarket, and farming sectors during my consultation with a rapidly expanding fast-food restaurant in Lagos, Nigeria. It was observed that many of their vendors lacked access to temperature-controlled vehicles or cold chain logistics services.
Nigeria experiences an annual wastage of over 45% in its fruits and vegetables production, resulting in a substantial loss of $9 billion (FAO/FIIRO). This significant loss serves as a primary driver of hunger, elevated cost of living, adverse effects on environmental sustainability, and economic challenges. At SPerishables, our objective is to diminish this wastage by 4% within the next 6 years.
